This is why I have such a hard time donating blood...

Category Everything Else

As Mr. Litton well knows, I'm not a huge fan of needles.  Back *many* years ago, I attempted to give blood at a company blood drive.  After about five attempts on both arms, they thought that perhaps they should stop trying as I was not looking exactly well.  That was the last attempt at blood donation for over 20 years.

I decided to overcome my fear a couple years ago and tried again.  The first three sessions went OK.  But the last two have been less than successful.  Even after letting them know I'm overweight, my veins don't behave, and I don't like needles, they still think it's all OK.

Instead, they get no blood, and I get this:

Bleech!

Gravatar Image1 - Ouch! Oh well, it could have been worse. You could have been a sperm donor.

Gravatar Image2 - While on active duty was giving blood and the tech started singing...."You're So Vain"; "I've Got You Under My Skin" and a few more choice tunes. Can't give blood with out thinking about it.

Gravatar Image3 - For better photo clarity on close-ups, use the 'macro' setting.

Gravatar Image4 - Like the iPhone has a macro mode...

Gravatar Image5 - This is nothing!!! Last time I gave blood, the nurse had problems with the needle and hda to replace it. The problem is that while she did that, the needle got out of the vein but stayed under the skin. I had a boubou that was 6-8 inches long and 3 inches wide. I have no issues with that, but after 2 days of people screaming at the office, I started wearing long sleeves... No pictures, sorry Emoticon

Gravatar Image6 - No... don't use the macro mode... I'd hate to see it in full fidelity...

Yikes!Emoticon

Gravatar Image7 - Duffbert: I gotcha covered. Universal donor for platelets and plasma (AB Neg), so I can go more often that the standard and I have a great vein in each arm.

Benoit: I had that happen once. Not fun.
