Will this be the year that an ongoing Lotusphere wrong is finally rectified?

Category Lotusphere2008
Will we finally see Ed Brill on stage during the opening or closing session????

:)

Gravatar Image1 - There's probably some truth there also, Ben... :)

Gravatar Image2 - Maybe the people who get the most done are too busy during Lotusphere to practice for and participate in a dog and pony show. Just a thought.

Gravatar Image3 - You really know how to stir up a crowd!!
:)
Chris

Gravatar Image4 - My guess is that "they" won't let him speak :(

Gravatar Image5 - Ed Brill on Stage! Yeah!

(Might have to fit the cameras with bigger zoom lenses..)

Gravatar Image6 - Thanks for the vote of confidence, Tom (and others).

Ben L basically gets it right -- there's no way I could dedicate the time and effort in the run-up to Lotusphere to be part of the opening general session team. It's especially been an issue in those years where we had our sales meeting a week or two before Lotusphere -- simply no way to focus on two big events simultaneously.

The closing would be nice, though. There have been plots hatched over the years, and one year, a certain General Manager even approved having Sandra and I host the closing session. Then an executive decided it was his job, and, well, it wasn't pretty (nor successful, nor is that executive with Lotus anymore).

It is now pretty established that the VP of marketing hosts the closing session. I have participated in writing the content for the closing remarks for the last five years, though, and it's OK to be "behind the scenes".

Gravatar Image7 - LOL....

While I added a smiley on the end of my post, there is an element of "why not?" in there...

Over the last 12 years I've been coming to Lotusphere, how many names have come and gone who have graced (or disgraced) the opening/closing session stage? How many "who's s/he?" have had a part, never to be heard from again? And when it comes to the name of a person who is most publically associated with Notes/Domino over a *very* long time, who does that happen to be?

I'm sure there's a back story there, policies that dictate who speaks and why, etc... It's just one of those things that has always made me go "hmmmm"...

Gravatar Image8 - I try, Chris... I try... :)
