Follow-up on my Social Media presentation at work...

Category Everything Else
Last Wednesday I gave my Social Media & Web 2.0 talk to the Strategic Communications department at work.  All in all, it went well.  There was a good level of interaction with the attendees, and many of them were being exposed to this material for the first time.  I've had a number of follow-up conversations with various individuals who were at the meeting, and I think this may have been a catalyst to get them thinking seriously about how the company can start using things like blogs and wikis to reach the market and start conversations.

Good stuff, and I have a feeling that it won't be the last department or area I end up presenting for...  :)

Gravatar Image1 - I know exactly what you mean, Curt... I struggle to find the right blend of information. Part of me wants to say "everyone knows this already", but in reality that's not the case...

Gravatar Image2 - I approached it in a way assuming they knew nothing and keeping it basic. My intention was that everyone could walk away learning one or two things they could use for their own enjoyment or at least recognize these things if they appear in our corporate world. It was casual and entertaining if nothing else. At least, as you point out, we opened the subject for discussion.
Rock on!

Gravatar Image3 - Cool! I did one too for my companies "Brown Bag" series entitled, "Social Computing - It's all about You!" I got a good reception. Jokes went over well as I had taken some pictures of the staff and put some cartoon expressions on them. I've been asked to repeat the session two more times in September. Suprises me how some of this info is new to some people.
