Any feedback on Endeca or Autonomy search engines in the Notes/Domino environment?

Category Software Development
In addition to looking at the Google search engine for "my friend's" project, the Endeca and Autonomy search platforms are also being considered.  I'm wondering if any of the Domino readers out there have had experiences with these companies in terms of indexing Notes/Domino databases?

Gravatar Image1 - Did you ever consider IBM OmniFind for your "friend's" project ? Out-of-the box OmniFind has a native support for Notes/Domino, including a Notes SearchGUI, and is available in a low-cost edition called "Starter".

Gravatar Image2 - Tom,
I'm glad you mentioned the name "Autonomy" because I'd worked with that product but had forgotten the name. My company at the time bought an enterprise version of this search engine product. My admin and I did experiment with it and had it running in a test environment. We never did make it a priority and the project fizzled out. I remember that the Domino Search was an add-on product. I remember that any customization of it was done with what was a text .ini type file. You basically named the database path and some other parameters and then Autonomy would spider the database. I'm afraid it's been a few years and I don't remember any problems.
