Ah, yes... When I had hair...

Category Everything Else

We had dinner with a couple last night we've known for 25+ years.  Her father is the minister that married Sue and I, and they recently did a photo retrospective of his 25 years of ministry at that church.  In the process, they found some pictures of Sue and I taken back in 1982.  Here's one that must have been taken in late 1981/early 1982 as Sue doesn't have her engagement ring on (February 1982).

As you can see, I *did* have hair at one point in my life...

A picture named M2

Comments

Gravatar Image1 - Enlisted in the Marines, boy if you want to feel really old, in 1982 I started secondary school, not sure what that is in America, Junior High maybe?

Gravatar Image2 - We were married in October of 1982. This year will be our 23rd anniversary.

And let's see... in 1982, I think my dad had already been retired from the Corps for about five years after putting in 26.

Gravatar Image3 - As much as it pains me to agree with you on anything, I think you're right.

Gravatar Image4 - Actually, Arnold Horshack was one of my favorite characters.

Gravatar Image5 - Sue hasn't really seen Tom in a few years, because he is behind a pile of books, reviewing them. Although, she has glimpsed him (or what she thinks is him) taking boxes of books from the UPS man to the basement.

Gravatar Image6 - I think you had as much as the rest of us -- you just used it up all at once!

Gravatar Image7 - Tom,

I think you look totally fly! I do have to have to agree with Jonvon that the first thoughts I had were "oh oh oh... Mr. Kotter......".

Thanks for sharing!

PS - I would like to see pics of Ben L. back from 1982... Ben?

Gravatar Image8 - The perspective in the picture with the gray line near your head, makes it look like your hair is touching the ceiling. Either you look like you are in a small room, or you have some big hair!

Gravatar Image9 - LOL... It was big, but not *that* big... There was side lighting on the wall set into an extended section that came down from the ceiling. While the ceiling was slanted, it didn't come down quite that far.

Gravatar Image10 - What the ....?!?!?! Wow! Tom has hair, and Sue's hair is DARK? Hmmm....Well there, Mr Duffbert, in your case, I do think the loss of hair was a GOOD thing!

Gravatar Image11 - Hair - the good old days!!! I got the worst of both worlds. I inherited my Dad's thinning hair and my Mom's premature grey hair. By the time I was 35 I looked 60 and expected a cub scout to help me across the street. I've had people ask me how old my grandson (he really is my 7 yr old son) is and how long I've been retired!!! I make my wife look younger and people think she's a trophy wife. At least you are famous!!!!

Gravatar Image12 - OH! OH! MR. KOTTER! OH! OH!

actually i like the hair. rather fetching.

Gravatar Image13 - And a lot of hair at that!! I notice all smileys are bald

Gravatar Image14 - I was planning on posting a smart-ass comment about your looks, but something else caught my attention. You said this photo was taken prior to February 1982 -that means you have been together for at minimum of 23 years. Congratulations, my friend.

Ok, now to make you feel old: February 1982 also has some historical significance to me -that's when I enlisted in the Marine Corps.

-Devin.
