Gravatar Image1 - At least the article touches on users taking responsibility for their own machines through education. A person will always lock their car/house before leaving, and even get it fixed with the occasional recall from time to time. I have no idea why the same standards aren't held with Internet-ready computers. "With great power comes great responsibility". If you're plugged into the same Internet that hospitals and emergency systems are plugged into, your irresponsibility can also bring those same systems down. However, here's the breakdown: most users DON'T realize they are on those same systems. Many people are under the opinion that ISPs are different Internet entities, such as AOL/Earthlink, etc, as opposed to one global Internet. Whenever I give classes like this, I always make a point that regardless what others say, I believe it is entirely possible to keep your system virus-free just from learning and becoming armed with what to avoid. I could go on forever, I'll shut up now.
