Well, that sucks! Our car was broken into last night...

Category Everything Else

I went out to get into the car for my last day at Marquam Group, and lo and behold...  there's a pile of safety glass in the passenger seat.  The stereo that Ian had installed a few months ago is gone, and the glove compartment is open (but we don't keep anything of value in there).  I moved the car into the driveway, covered the missing window to prevent some of the rain from getting in, and called the police to file a report.

Actually, in all the years I've had a car, this is the first time I've ever had to deal with a break-in.  So, sad to say, but I'm probably lucky.  I'm also glad that it was the Saturn and not our PT Cruiser.  *THAT* would have irritated me a lot!

I hope that's as exciting as my day gets...  :-)

Gravatar Image1 - I feel your pain, man. I got my stereo ripped off last year. I was just glad it didn't rain that day. The thief got 9 cars in the Park-n-Ride lot that I park in that day. What a pain! I still have a frikin' hole in my dash where the stereo used to be. So, when I drive, I'm alone with my thoughts- man that's a scary place to be! LOL

Gravatar Image2 - That is a real bummer and having had that happen to me three different times, my thought is to cut off their hands (or at least one) if I caught them at it. I know that might be a little extreme but this is small potatoes to our law enforcement and will never be resolved.

Gravatar Image3 - I know exactly how you are feeling...it's like somebody just hit you in the solar plexis and knocked all the wind out of you when you just realized that your personal "space/property" had been invaded. I too was a victim of car theft. It happened when I lived in Northern California. I had just purchased my new Honda Accord. Somebody had broken in the rear wing window and stolen my stereo, a backpack full of work out clothes from the rear seat and some change. This happened in broad daylight in a parking lot of a busy business center with a bank on the first floor of the building. I was pretty shook up and felt very violated. Needless to say, the culprit was never caught...I just hope they were able to use the work out clothes in my backpack! (and my whopping size 4 tennis shoes!!!)

Gravatar Image4 - Sorry to hear it, Tom. I had my car broken into in a gated parking lot once, and had a pool cue stolen. It really sucked, not just losing the cue (which I totally loved - my bad for leaving it in the damn car), but because after fixing the window, it never rolled up as well as the original. Always had a little air leak which on the highway continually reminded me of the break-in!

Gravatar Image5 - Sorry to hear this Tom.

Gravatar Image6 - Arg... my condolences. That's no fun.
Be glad they broke the window. A past aquaintence of mine told me a story of his 1977 Jimmy Blazer he had just finished refurbishing, sometime back in the 90's. He locked his tools inside and parked it under the bedroom window of their small house in Columbus. Someone came along and instead of breaking a window or jimmying the lock - bent the crap out of the rear gate with a pry bar, causing $900 of damage. I'll take a broken window any day over structural damage.

I hope they plug in the stolen stereo and can tune in nothing but polka.

Gravatar Image7 - That bites! Sorry dude!

Gravatar Image8 - So it was a small theft, eh, Gayle?

Gravatar Image9 - That is a true bummer. Sorry!
