New feature I just added to my Blogsphere template...

Category Blogging

Yes, I know about RSS feeds...

Yes, I know I should use a newsreader to follow the blogs on my blog roll...

Sorry, I prefer going to the actual site.

So, I normally click each of the links, launching however many IE windows I need, and then I quickly see if there's anything I want to read in each one.  But being essentially lazy, I really wanted to click a single link and have ALL my blog roll links launch automagically.  Sorta like doing a
SuperSearch on MartinScott.com.

If you check out my blog roll, you'll see a link at the bottom labelled "Launch Them All!".  That will launch each of the blogs in a separate window.  Let me know how/if you like it.  If I'm not raked over the coals for such a useless feature (but it's useful to ME!), I'll package up the design elements, ship them off to Declan, and also make them available here for download...

Gravatar Image1 - First of all, get yourself either a Mozilla based browser, Opera browser or the Avant Browser shell for IE. Every one of those allow you to have tabs within your browser. They also allow you to bookmark a group of tabs. Then you launch the bookmark and all of the tabs open to their respective tabbed windows.

Other than that, I love RSS and newsreaders because then I don't open any pages that haven't been updated. FeedDemon is a nice new reader that's in beta now. From the creator of TopStyle. GoodStuff...

Take Care,
John

Gravatar Image2 - I too tend not to use a newsreader. I like to visit the site to check out new designs, additional side bar info, etc. I use Firebird as well and launch one window with tabs of each blog I read. Pretty stink'in slick!

Gravatar Image3 - IE? IE?? Heh heh. My preferred news reading approach (on the Mac) is to click on whatever links take my fancy in NetNewsWire. When I'm ready, I Apple-Tab to Safari, and BOOM, all the pages are there, each in a separate tab, ready for my perusal. None of this multi-window nonsense...

At work, I fire up Firebird on the PC -- again, it has tabs -- and in Moz-derived browsers you can usuall bookmark a group of tabs. For your purposes I'd suggest this would be ideal. One bookmark for all your daily reads.

Gravatar Image4 - I might just add the same feature to my blog; but perhaps only for the blogs that don't have RSS feeds.
