About Duffbert...

Duffbert's Random Musings is a weblog semi/sorta related to IBM/Lotus Notes & Domino software, but I don't let that be a limiting criteria. I'm Thomas Duff, and you can find out more about me here...

SHOW106 Tivoli Directory Integrator session on Tuesday at 4:30 is NOT just for directories and NOT just for admins...

Category LS10
Marie Scott and I will be doing the SHOW106 session on Tivoli Directory Integrator at 4:30 on Tuesday in Swan Osprey.  Contrary to the way the title reads, this is NOT simply an Admin session, NOR is it something that only deals with directories.

Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI) is a tool that allows you to move data of any sort from one source to another via connectors.  If you're running Domino, you have an entitlement to use this software for free (FREE!) so long as one of the sources involve Domino.  You can build jobs quickly that will move data into and out of Domino, both on a batch or event-driven basis.

I'll be showing the install process along with a couple of examples of moving a CSV file into Notes and exporting Notes data into an XML file.  Marie will be covering directory integration involving Active Directory and Domino.

So if you've written off that session because you're not working with directories or it sounded like something an admin would need, think again.  We'd love to see you there.

Gravatar Image1 - Hello Thomas,

is it possible to synchronize passwords between Active Directory and Notes.ID Files?

Bernd

Gravatar Image2 - @Thomas,

I think that should be possible. But not out of the box. When you use the ID vault you could write a Lotus Notes Agent which could change the password from the user in the vault.

In that case the Tivoli stuff must only trigger this agent when a PW is changed an voila... password syncted.

BUT I think its much easier using the shared ID function or the PW sync service IBM already offered in Lotus Notes 8.5

Gravatar Image3 - Thanks for this. I was weighing the options, and this post sealed the deal.

Yes, you can sync passwords from AD (and other places) to ID Vault directly from TDI - no agent required.

Gravatar Image5 - Hmmmm. I may have to explore this with Quickr Domino.

Gravatar Image6 - Hey, maybe you can help me? I got an error if I'm using the connector "Domino Change Detection" called DominoChanged in your pdf V7 Example:

CTGDJE010E Connector was unable to initialize local Notes session to Domino Server. Exception encountered: java.lang.Exception: Native call SECKFMSwitchToIDFile failed with error: code 259, 'File does not exist'.

Any idea?

Gravatar Image7 - @6... that's a bug that we discovered during our prep for the session, and the TDI group at IBM are aware of it. It's why we had to demo the second part of our session with version 6. Marie was able to stick the notes ID file in just about every TDI folder out there and work around it, but we didn't have the time to find out which folder it HAD to be in.

Gravatar Image8 - Thank you. I copied the ID-File in C:\Program Files\IBM\TDI\V7.0\ - this works for me. Well, if I execute the AL SyncAD_to_Domino or SyncDomino_to_AD I got error:

ERROR - CTGDIS266E java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

CTGDIS077I java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

These error are in both Assembly Lines.
